Review of the 75th anniversary celebrations of Ridder GmbH

On 8 June 2024, RIDDER celebrated its 75th anniversary and looked back on an eventful and successful history. The celebrations began in the morning with guests from politics and business.

Our management opened the day with a speech about the origins and development of RIDDER. The milestones in the company's history were highlighted. Afterwards, some of our guests honoured us with words and awards, including Singhofen's mayor Mr. Detlef Paul, Mr. Richard Hover from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Mr. Matthias Lammert - Member of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament. They emphasised the importance of Ridder GmbH as a reliable partner in the region and paid tribute to our commitment and innovative strength.

After the speeches, the guests were given an exclusive tour of our premises. Here they were able to take a look behind the scenes and be impressed by our modern infrastructure and production processes.

From noon, we opened our doors to local residents, former employees, friends and all interested parties for an open day. Visitors had the opportunity to take part in guided tours or chat to our employees while enjoying sunshine, bratwurst and cool drinks in our garden. The children in particular got their money's worth and enjoyed the large bouncy castle, which provided lots of fun and good humour.

In the evening, we had a private celebration. Together with our employees, their partners, close business partners and friends, we rounded off the day with live music and a delicious buffet. It was a wonderful end to a memorable day, during which both new and old friendships were cultivated.
Once again, we would like to thank all 500 guests who made this day so special. We would also like to thank our dedicated employees, loyal business partners, the butcher's shop Lenz from Singhofen, photographer Horst Bauer from Koblenz, Ania and the band and everyone else who supported us in organising and realising the party.

The proceeds of the day went 100% to the DRK (German Red Cross) Ortsverein Singhofen e.V., whom we would also like to thank for their valuable work. We were able to welcome Dr. Hans Jäger and Mr. Dominik Klos to our premises just a few days later for the official handover of the donations.

We look forward to many more successful years and to continuing to be a reliable partner for our customers and the community in the future.

RIDDER learns “cooking well and cheaply with AOK”

Everything is becoming more and more expensive and the average person can no longer afford good and, above all, healthy food?
Many of our colleagues thought that way, until the AOK proved us wrong in a short cooking course on the topic of “Cooking well and cheaply”.

This course took place in Nastätten on October 11th, 2023. The kitchen studio “Küchenwolf” provided to us its location - many thanks again to the gentlemen Wolf.

The food was all organic or from a local farm. Priceless? Quite the opposite. It just depends on when you buy something. Of course the food range plays an important role.

But what is there anyway?
As a starter, pumpkin soup, homemade baguette and two different dips.

The main course was whole grain spaghetti in mushroom sauce and a light berry tiramisu for dessert.

Everything was incredibly delicious and the portions cost a maximum of €6.
We had fun, learned something and got stuffed. Of course, all of the recipes could be taken home.

The planning for the next event of this kind is already in progress and we look forward to a positive feedback and an active participation.
At this point, of course, a very hugh thank you to the AOK, which continually supports us in our health campaigns.

We started the 2023 company party with a leisurely two-hour hike. With enough food we went to the Alteburg in Singhofen,

where we took a short coffee and cake break and enjoyed a great view.

Back at the well-known RIDDER Wies'n, we immediately fired up the grill and served ourselves with a rich salad selection. On top of that, original Chinese live cooking by our visitor from China provided us a lot of fun and fiery moments.

With our stomachs full and plenty of drinks, we welcomed a live band and listened to great rock music for two hours.

Until late at night the music continued playing with colorful music from our speaker box...

Review ISH trade fair 2023

The ISH 2023 is over. What remains are a lot of great impressions, beautiful memories and hopefully long-lasting new and old business relationships.

A week of trade fair lies behind us. It was wonderful, but also exhausting.
We were able to welcome many customers and business partners to our trade fair stand. But new interested parties, trading partners and service providers also found their way to us and were advised on snacks and drinks and had all their questions answered.
Both national and international visitors made the five days an experience and enjoyed our products and solutions.

In addition to the new products, our concept for sustainable packaging was particularly well received and highly praised.
Our stand guests also showed keen interest in our shower and bathtub mats, which are produced at our location in Singhofen.

However, the fantastic trade fair stand and the entire event would not have been possible without a great team.
We are therefore using this opportunity to express great praise and a heartfelt thank you to all planners, exhibition stand builders, helpers, creative people, mechanics and colleagues at ISH 2023.
Without you, this trade fair would not have been the experience it was.

We are looking forward to an exciting year and especially to the ISH 2025.

In about a month, the ISH 2023 will open its doors and we at RIDDER will take part again.

The ISH (International Sanitary and Heating Trade Fair) will take place in Frankfurt from March 13th to March 17th, 2023. Innovative bathroom design, energy-efficient heating and air conditioning technology and renewable energies will be presented in different halls.

RIDDER GmbH with excellent health promotion for employees

The management of Ridder GmbH in Singhofen recently received great news from AOK. The health insurance company tested the company's activities to promote the health of its employees and immediately confirmed that it had passed the first level of certification. AOK corporate customer consultant Sebastian Clos presented the corresponding certificate to managing director Dirk Busch-Ridder.

“Even though the health partnership with AOK has only existed since mid-2022, you have already passed the bronze certification due to your great commitment to the well-being of the employees,” said Clos when handing over the certificate.

The auditors were particularly impressed by how quickly and sustainably the topic of employee health was anchored in the corporate culture.

Lars Gemmer emphasizes on behalf of Ridder GmbH that they do not want to rest on their laurels. “We will continue to invest in company health promotion and, as an additional benefit, we are of course also aiming for the next certification level with targeted measures.”

Consequently, there will also be further health-promoting activities for Ridder GmbH employees in 2023.

One of 100 newborns has a congenital heart defect.

This sad fact moved us this year to do something good with our Christmas greetings to customers and employees.

We made a conscious decision to purchase the cards through a foundation for children with heart disease.
The German Children's Heart Foundation, founded in 1989, has set itself the task of giving young heart patients all over the world the chance of a carefree life.

With every Christmas card, we automatically donate €0.20 to the Kinderherzen Foundation.

As of 1st August 2022 we are pleased to welcome two new trainees: Tim and Daniel.

In the following, they both introduce themselves briefly:

"Hey, I'm Tim and I started my training as an industrial clerk at RIDDER on 01.08.2022.

I am 22 years old and I am living in Berghausen, near Katzenelnbogen.

If I had three words to describe myself it would be "communicative, open minded and friendly".

In my free time I play wheelchair basketball in Koblenz and Wiesbaden. Through this hobby I get around a lot in the world and regularly participate in tournaments in e.g. Frankfurt, Trier or Heidelberg.

Most of all, I'm looking forward going through the different departments over the next three years, as well as getting to know the new colleagues from each department.

Looking forward to a good cooperation, Tim."

"Hey, I'm Daniel and I will be trained as a warehouse logistics specialist at RIDDER.

I'm 24 years old and I am living in Seelbach, near Nassau.

"Honest, loyal and direct" are the three words that describing me best. In my free time I like to fix cars in my own garage or work with wood. Besides that, I also like to get together with my friends for a barbecue.

I'm most looking forward to getting to know the different departments and my new colleagues.

Unique in every case

Our new warehouse is ready

With finishing our new warehouse, we are now even better positioned and have significantly more flexibility when it comes to storage spaces and ensure item availability.
The construction stared in March 2021 and the first shelves were already stocked with goods by the end of September / beginning of October.

It is done, after careful analysis and preparation Mr. Hübinger (technical manager Ridder), Busch-Ridder (managing director Ridder), District Administrator Puchtler, Mayor Paul and Marc Ridder (Managing Director Ridder) for the symbolic groundbreaking of the new warehouse.

With nice winter weather and in compliance with the current Corona rules, there still was time to inform about the new building, here in brief:

- construction time approx. 6 months
- storage area for approx. 1,600 pallet spaces
- heatable hall with the possibility of extension
- harmonic construction and facade, suitable to the existing buildings

Re-design of our entrance area

"First impressions count" - so they say, and let's be honest, that's how it is. This saying applies not only to people, but also to the entrance area at home and especially in companies. We have redesigned our reception area: Furniture and decoration where moved and added, with the aim of making our entrance more inviting. Our eye-catcher is and remains the orange couch, which is highlighted by bright tables and stylish accessories from our own range.

Mirrors can cause fire...

...and how quickly a small household mirror or a pocket mirror can set something on fire, we tested and recorded under supervision. A pocket mirror, a toilet paper roll and the sun, that's all it took to cause a fire in less than 15 minutes. Unattended or in a room, it could have quickly caused major damage. Even through a window, under certain circumstances a mirror can scorch the window frame or scorch the decorative wooden shell.

Therefore, always take care not to place the mirror directly against the window (whether open or closed) and always protect the mirror surface from direct sunlight.

What many people don't know... for many, many years we and nature have enjoyed the advantages of green roofing. At that time, plants were planted on the roof of one of our warehouses to provide natural protection against heat and cold. Visually, of course, it fits perfectly into the countryside, where we have our headquarter.

And if it weren't a bit cumbersome to climb up there, we would certainly enjoy the odd lunch break or two up there in peace and quiet.

Finally, the time has come: Four brand new flags adorn the meadows in front of the RIDDER GmbH building. Fluttering in the wind, they show a small section of our articles and one or the other well-known, local face. Using the flags, we proudly present the Rhineland-Palatinate award for an attractive employer. They can be seen coming from Nassau directly after the roundabout.

Self-made community masks

Our country step by step eases strict regulations within the framework of the Corona pandemic, but wearing protection masks especially in buildings will be still part of daily life.
We as a company also want to protect our employees from the virus and, in addition to a whole range of hygiene and distance measures in the internal process, we also try to transfer this protection into the private life of our employees. In this context, our long-standing employee Mr. Siegfried Holzenthal together with his wife sewed masks for each of our colleagues. The mouth and nose protection masks meet the requirements of the so-called community masks and are therefore also suitable for the daily wash up to 60°C.

In addition to the protective aspect, the self-made cotton masks are of course also visually a highlight compared to the disposable masks available in retail.
We and our staff are happy and send a big THANK YOU to our tailors!

More sustainable through improved technology

For some time now our new stretch machine has been in use in our shipping department. Through the improved technology, stretch film can be pre-stretched up to 300 % for wrapping pallets. This reduces waste, resources and costs. A great advantage in all respects – because economic goals can rarely be reconciled with ecological goals.

Bathroom carpets for the animal shelter in Ransbach-Baumbach

Especially in these days we are happy if we can bring a little bit of joy into the world. Last week our portion of joy went to the animal shelter in Ransbach-Baumbach. We sent out returned bathroom carpets for the animals.
Many dogs and cats as well as the team there were happy about our small donation. A member of the team recorded the cute reactions of the animals, which put a smile on every ones face.

The corona crisis controls us worldwide and has huge impact on our private and public life. This does not leave us unaffected, but we want to continue as much as possible.

A bonus for our health

Especially on stressful days people often eat chocolate or cookies. Both ot them release endorphins, but to be honest – they are beither good nor healthy for our body.
Therefore, together with the managing directors, the RIDDER operational health management team (OHM) decided to introduce healthy and delicious snacks. Every month every department receives large baskets with fresh fruits from a local store.

Why fruits?

Because we care about the health of our employees. The consumption of fruits strengthens our immune system, lowers cholesterol, has a beneficial effect on blood pressure and helps to protect from heart diseases and vascular blockage.

Of course, regional fruits have priority for us, this is why we decided to work with REWE Pebler situated in Nassau, who consciously pays attention to mainly selling fruits and fruits from our region.

For five years we support the ‘Aktion Mensch’ organization by buying their annual lottery tickets and give them each of our employees as a little Christmas gift. With that, we not only bring joy to them but we support social projects at the same time. ‘Aktion Mensch’ is completely financed by the sales of the lottery tickets. The social organization helps to improve the living conditions of humans with handicaps, children and teenagers. Around 3.9 billion euros went into the funding for social projects.
We are proud to be a port of the “Das-Wir-Gewinnt” project and will continue to support it annually by buying their lottery tickets for our employees.

We recently received the turquoise-colored star behind our shop name on Ebay - which means: over 25,000 satisfied customers.
Our performance there is quite impressive. On average, we are currently rated 5 stars in each category. One negative and five neutral ratings stand against 1145 positive ratings, only in the last six months .
We are very happy that our products and our service are so well received by our customers.

Christmas party 2019

On 13.12.2019 we celebrated our yearly Christmas party at a nice restaurant in Nassau and were happy to welcome almost all of our employees. The location was great and the buffet also left nothing to be desired.
The evening was filled with a lot ot entertainment. In addition to a speech by the managing directors, in which many employees were mentioned by name, there was also a review presented as a funny story, supportet with pictures and videos of the year.
And the trainees also took part of the evening programme: They prepared and lead a Christmas game: Pictures have to be painted and odors and Christmas songs (played backwards) must be guessed.
Overall it was a great evening and we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a good start into the new year!

Around 2,000 children in Germany get sick due to cancer every year.
This sad fact moved us to do something good with our Christmas greetings to customers and employees.
We made a conscious decision to buy the christmas cards from a company that works togehter with the foundation for children with cancer.

The foundation is based in Bonn and wants to help and support the parents in this hard time. In 1995 it was founded by the umbrella organization of regional parent groups "German Leukemia Research Foundation, Action for Children with Cancer" (DLFH).

Attractive Employer 2019

We are one of eight selected companies out of 300,000 in Rhineland-Palatinate. We are very proud to be honored with the "Attractive Employer 2019" award.
At a ceremony on December 4, 2019 in Mainz, our medium-sized family business was officially awarded this title along with seven other companies from the region. Our managing director Mr. Dirk Busch-Ridder went to the ceremony with three of our trainees and three employees to receive the award personally and to say a few words about our company. Sustainability was the focus, but the companies were selected based on the following additional criteria: innovation content, creativity, motivation, goal setting, sustainability, transferability / suitability for medium-sized companies, implementation in practice and orientation of values.

Everywhere in the world, the number of the elderly humans in our societey increases, more and more. The wish to live a self-determinend life at home as long as possible, becomes very important to them. With our Assistent range we offer a huge assortment of supportive items, specialized on the safety and comfort in bathrooms.
Our partner in Singapore, Econflo, presented our Assistent products at the Eldex exhibition in Singapore - a fair with focus on (elder)care and self-determined life.
Econflo and Ridder were glad about the very positive feedback from the visitors and already call the fair a success.

"BGM“ Network ( Corporate Health Management Network)

Corporate network for health management

In October 2016, several large companies from the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis founded the network "We are BGM". Two to three times a year, the member representatives meet at the BGM forums to exchange their experiences and views regarding the different activities to improve and take care of the health of their employees. The meetings involve exchanging ideas, comparing concepts and create connection to inform and inspirate each other.

The health of employees is fundamental for their performance and satisfaction, which also benefits the productivity of a company. This network should is the ground for health-improving activities to maintain the performance and quality of life of all our employees. The BGM forums are based on values such as openness, fairness and respect. The hosts, who change regularly, invite all participants to visit their company. Ridder GmbH is proud to be part of this network from the very beginning.

Health Day 2019

After the success of our first health day in 2018, it was clear to us that there will be a Health Day again in 2019. But this year there were no different stations that could be "passed through" by our employees, but the BGM team has organized together with the AOK an information day with topic "Life Style Fitness". For interested employees, a screening took place in which the body fat percentage, muscle mass, BMI and water content in the body were measured. Following the screening, employees were provided with clever tips to improve, if they had, low scores. After the screening our staff learned about AOK's "Fit and Slim Programme" which helps to burn adipose and to build up muscles. Above all, a well-balanced diet, drinking at lot of water and doing exercises play a very important role. Finally, it was put into practice. Our colleagues were shown how they can include little active-breaks into their daily (work) life. All of them practiced easy but effective exercises at their working place together and took home valuable tips and tricks on the subject of doing exercises. Conclusion of our Health Day 2019: It always does not have to be the gym. A lot of good exercises can be done in a few minutes, even the work place. Active-breaks have have a positive impact on body and mind.

DtGV tests RIDDER walker Premium

The independent test institute DtGV tested 13 walker accurately, our Premium walker was one of them (item no. A0300100S). The whole check was divided into four categories: Safety, processing, functionality and Comfort. Important to say is that the category „safety“, with 40%, was significantly higher rated than the other categories with just 20%.

In the following you‘ll find the result of our walker:

Safety: 84,4%

Processing: 80,88%

Functionality: 91,93%

Comfort: 78,51%

The overall result for our walker Premium is 84,02% and grade 2,1 (good).

We are very proud of such a great test result!

Our team wasn‘t afraid of the extreme hot degrees and attended the popular „Münz-company-run“. Nearly every company around Koblenz attends this event – so we. All our team mates conquered the finish line after the 5 km run healthy, a little bit tired but happy. We ended the day with a delicious dinner at a nice restaurant in old town Koblenz before we went the popular after-run party at „Deutsches Eck“.

Shower and bathtub mats are designed to reduce the risk of slipping in the bath or shower. For many, the visual appearance and colour design often play a rather subordinate role. The polyester shower curtain Zelda is available in both, black and beige colour and harmonises perfectly with our black shower curtain rail.

For the design, we have deliberately avoided large shapes or full surfaces and remain in a uniform symbiosis in terms of colour.

The curtain itself has a water-repellent coating and impregnation and can be washed in the washing machine at up to 60°C if necessary. However, please refrain from using fabric softener or too much detergent and do not dry the textile curtain in the dryer, but simply hang it up.

You can also strengthen the impregnation after drying by ironing the shower curtain inside out on the lowest setting.
